One of the things that we need to do is we need to actually actively imagine a different future a transformed future right And when people traditionally imagine a different future often the argument goes in this way We're heading towards a dystopian future an awful apocalyptic catastrophic future We're heading towards a dystopian future That is very true right now by the way That is what we're heading towards absolutely What we need is a utopian vision a vision of how things will be if they are perfect if we actually fix everything and make everything okay as an alternative to that dystopia So the tragic situation that we're in now is that if that kind of path to utopia was ever available it isn't now And the reason we've been very clear about the reasons in our discussions this afternoon right The reason is that this civilization is finished The reason is that we are deep into the danger zone We are facing impacts Those impacts are going to get worse for a long time We are in trouble We cannot realistically hope to end up in a best of all possible worlds So what does that mean We still need something to guide us We still need some kind of sense of where we're headed And that's where this idea of thrutopia comes in What thrutopia says is okay focus a little bit less on the kind of desired end state or the undesired end state of utopia not available or dystopia yeah where we definitely are heading but don't want to end up Don't just focus on those Focus on now Focus on what's coming Focus on the path through Righ
