There is a beautiful coincidence and that is by and large the things that we need to do in order to give ourselves any chance of not collapsing our civilization and the things that we need to do in order to prepare for a potential civilizational collapse and the things that we need to do to make our lives with each other better are generally more or less the same things They are things like get to know our neighbors better have more local food have better insulation in our houses in our offices et cetera be less dependent upon damaging industries which are located far away from us have more of a say in the way that we ourselves run our own affairs and get governed The beautiful coincidence is that all of these things coincide This civilization is coming to an end The next civilization is going to be one in which these things are improved or it's going to be one in which we've collapsed Thank you for giving these examples We noticed that you emphasized the limitations of technological solutions alone So could you expand on why incorporating what we could call humanities and ancient wisdom as vital for this resilience that you just talked about I just want to emphasize 2 things you said for our audience to hear They're really important One was and we made a commitment at the end of last year to have more diverse voices on our podcast By diverse we mean people we normally would not align with some of the things that were done I think it's so important what you said about we need to have those people and have those conversations so people see people who have views like them holding views around climate and environment the second thing you said that is so important is we need to focus on the impacts i i think you're so right we have over focused on the science and the number and emissions as the only and it's kind of like distant thunder to people and i think when you talk about the impacts we have alignment around the impacts we want a healthy ocean we want Other species to thrive We don't want to go on vacation and see dead coral reefs Right And so I think that the 2 really important things you said that I don't want to be lost on our audience as we're communicating
