In the Paris the great Paris diplomatic achievement in 2015 in the climate change talks at the COP every country in the world agreed to keep global temperatures down to 1.5 degrees if remotely possible and at most a little bit more than that we have failed to stick to that objective And we know that because the global temperatures are now going above 1.5 degrees and they have been for many months now So even if you don't follow all the niceties of these things even if you're a listener who's like well I'm not really sure 1.5 degrees means or something like that Just take it from the scientists right The scientists and the diplomats and the politicians they all said ten years ago we must stay at 1.5 degrees We must not go above this because if we do we're going to be rupturing a planetary boundary and we're going to be in terrible trouble Well guess what We've ruptured that planetary boundary We are in terrible trouble We are out of the safe zone And that has to be the starting point for any of these conversations
